ICU REHAB UPDATES FOR FEBRUARY 2021 Welcome to the Feb. 2021 monthly @ICURehab email. I hope everyone is coping through the ups and downs of the pandemic. Locally, we are experiencing a steady decrease in incidence. My hospital now has only 1 dedicated COVID ICU, plus a few patients in other ICUs. However, the new virus variants have recently arrived in my city and vaccine roll out is still in early stages. Hence, things are uncertain – we still have partial lockdown conditions. I am hoping that the pandemic can get under better control in 2021/2022 and we can have a 2020’s version of the “Roaring 1920s” that occurred after the 1918 pandemic 1. Announcements and updates below a. Registration opens later in Feb. for 10th Johns Hopkins Critical Care Rehab Conference: i. Deadlines for Early bird registration discount and Abstract submission: June 30, 2021 ii. Staying virtual* for 2021 due to uncertainties of pandemic & amazingly positive feedback from 700 respondents to our post-Conference survey 1. (1) “Live,” via Zoom Webinar Nov 4 to 6, 2021 including live Q&A, workshops, poster presentations, & networking sessions 2. (2) Unlimited “On-Demand,” via a customized online learning management platform, available Oct 21 to Dec 15, 2021 a. All Conference presentations have English subtitles/captions 3. ICU REHAB UPDATES FOR DECEMBER 2020 Welcome to the December 2020 monthly @ICURehab email. The pandemic remains scary (we are still having record-setting incidence in my area, with COVID ICUs and wards re-opening), but the promising results from vaccine trials may be some glimmer of hope with, of course, important issues related to availability/distribution/access and uptake, etc. Let’s hope for a better 2021 (early New Year’s greetings to everyone)! 1.
